Update on COVID-19
The TIGR2ESS team, like research projects across the world, is currently facing the challenge of adapting our plans to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Whilst almost all field and lab-related work has temporarily been suspended, we are now looking to address the joint challenges of continuing to conduct world-class research during lockdown and in the as yet unknown landscape once restrictions eventually ease.
We are currently working with our project leads and partners to pivot our research to address emerging challenges and changes in food security for the communities we work with. All our meetings, roundtables and conferences are being adapted into virtual events. Our researchers are also documenting the immediate and potential longer-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic through regular blogs.
As we move forward in our new environment, we will devise new research methods to facilitate engagement with communities during times of social distancing. We will translate existing methods into accessible remote fieldwork tools, defining and developing best practice. We will also work hard to inform and shape food security and agricultural policy post-lockdown by working closely with our partners in India.
This news page highlights the efforts of our researchers to document the effects of the pandemic and associated lockdown on the communities we work with in India. We will continue to publish insightful articles and other content as the pandemic unfolds, based on the rapid response research being carried ouy by our members.
