Biography

Dr Pratheepa is a researcher and professional social worker with over a decade of working experience in community development. She holds post-graduate and doctoral degrees in social work. She is qualified in the National Eligibility Test that determines the eligibility for the post of faculties in Indian universities. She has hands-on experience in designing and implementing various developmental programs for community wellbeing and capacity building of community based developmental organizations. Currently, she is working with M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai.

Research

Dr Pratheepa is a social scientist, working closely with farmers and fishers and community-based organizations at micro level, and line departments at the meso and macro levels. Having strong social science research experience, she has conducted socio-economic studies and developed a comprehensive perspective plan for village development. She is a co-investigator of a study on the promotion of Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture in JICA assisted agriculture sector projects in India. She is part of Flagship Project 1 in the TIG2ESS project and studies the Tamil Nadu coastal agroecosystem. She co-designed the research protocol, and is studying the socio, economic, ecological and political dimensions of current food systems for its transformation towards ever-green agriculture.
